Now standing his second season at Woodside in 2024, Shalaa has already proven himself as a sire on the rise across his seven seasons at stud across both hemispheres, producing 16 individual stakes winners including six black-type two-year-olds, much in the mould of himself.
A Great Britain and French Champion two-year-old after victories in the 2015 Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville and Group 1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket, legendary jockey Frankie Dettori described Shalaa as the fastest two-year-old he had ever ridden.
Shalaa was rated champion two-year-old in Great Britain and France subsequent to these victories.
Shalaa has already sired Group 1 winner No Speak Alexander who claimed the Leopardstown Matron Stakes while Seven Veils in Australia proved too good when winning the Group 2 Reisling Stakes.
Having also sired Magic Millions Classic winner Shaquero, Shalaa has proven himself to be a sire that can produce the early two-year-olds as well as horse who can produce Group 1 performances at three.
After a terrific first season in 2023, we cannot wait to see breeders once again support this magnificent stallion.
A sire of 16 stakes winners, Shalaa has already achieved the ultimate success as a stallion, siring Group 1-winning three-year-old No Speak Alexander in Europe, while in Australia he proven himself as a stakes-producing two-year-old sire with winners including Shaquero, Seven Veils and Semilion.
No Speak Alexander showed her class when winning the Leapordstown Matron Stakes at Group 1 level, defeating Group 1 winner Pearls Galore and dual Group 1 winner Mother Earth.
Shaquero lit up a strong Magic Millions field in 2021, along with claiming another two juvenile stakes wins. Fellow two-year-old stakes winner Semillion was victorious on debut in the Inglis Banner at Moonee Valley before going on to win the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes over The Championships at Randwick.
Seven Veils showed her class at just her second start, taking out the Group 2 Reisling Stakes, defeating subsequent stakes winner Dashing Legend.
Shalaa has sired 11 new stakes winners since March 2022, which have included three-year-old group winners Recommendation and Jennilala, and two-year-old black-type winners Chilled and Princess Duhallow.
By the sire of sires Invincible Spirit, Shalaa always had the pedigree to make it as a successful stallion.
Just like Australia’s champion sire I Am Invincible, Kingman, the sire of champion racehorse Palace Pier, and Lawman, a six-time Group 1-producing sire, Shalaa is another sire son of the champion that is Invincible Spirit.
I Am Invincible is the sire of 14 Group 1 winners which include sire sons Brazen Beau, Hellbent and Home Affairs, while Kingman is the sire of eight Group 1 winners which includes stallions Palace Pier and Persian King, while also recently siring Group 1 JJ Atkins winner King Colorado.
Shalaa is from a proven source of Group 1 stallions and given his proven source of stakes winners from just his first three racing crops, the best is still to come.
