Laurel River is by Into Mischief (7 times Champion North American Stallion 2019-2025). To put that into perspective breed shaping sires Danzig (3 times. 1991-1993), Mr. Prospector (2 times 1987-1988), Storm Cat (2 times 1992-1993), Northern Dancer (1971). Also a sire of sires with Practical Joke (54 stakes-winners. 12 at Gr. 1 level), Goldencents (33 stakes-winners. 3 at Gr. 1 level).
Laurel River profiles up like champion sire Street Cry. Both started their careers in Southern California and won the Dubai World Cup at their tenth start.
I would really encourage you to watch his replays. He had plenty of speed. His racing pattern was to put the pressure on at the 800m. You have to have a decent set of lungs to attempt this. Very unique.

I know Bernardini has not been to Australia for a few years but a mare by him would be ideal. From 115 runners there have been 7 stakes-winners inc. Sovereignty, Shred The Gnar, Twenty Carat, Owendale, etc.
Similar situation for Medaglia d’Oro. From small number for the Into Mischief/Medaglia d’Oro cross there has been a dozen stakes-winners.
A Frosted mare could work with Laurel River. There have been 15 stakes-winners bred on the Into Mischief/Tapit cross.
My favourite is Distorted Humor for Laurel River. Distorted Humor stood a couple of seasons in Victoria. Even if you had a mare that’s grand-dam or third-dam was by Distorted Humor I would jump at it. There have been 27 stakes-winners, 7 at Gr. 1 level bred on the Into Mischief / Distorted Humor cross inc. outstanding sire Practical Joke (54 stakes-winners, 12 at Gr. 1 level) is bred that way.
