The Woodside Park Stud team spent the weekend cheering while watching the races with our stellar line up of stallions achieving some outstanding success, not only in Australia, but internationally.

The highlight performance came on Saturday at Morphettville when the Tony McEvoy-trained Despatch continued his upward spiral to capture the G1 Goodwood Handicap (1200m) in impressive fashion.

Unbeaten this time in, the 4yo son of Written Tycoon has now recorded black type success at his last three starts, with McEvoy indicating that Despatch will be given his chance to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner Santa Ana Lane, the World’s Highest Rated Sprinter, and head to Brisbane for the G1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m).

Sold through the draft of Woodside Park Stud at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, a sale which will commence this week, Despatch became the seventh individual G1 winner and second this season for Written Tycoon, after the victory of Booker in the G1 Oakleigh Plate earlier in the season.

One of only five active stallions to achieve multiple G1 winners so far this season in Australia, and the only Victorian-based sire to do so, Written Tycoon currently sits in equal third on the Australian General Sires’ table for winners, behind I Am Invincible and Snitzel, with 126 individual winners.
