The team from Woodside Park Stud won’t have time to feel the winter chill at the Inglis Great Southern Sale, as their quality draft of 13 weanlings will be keeping them warm parading for prospective buyers.
Located in Barn H, the draft includes three foals sired by their pin-up boy Written Tycoon and a lovely Zoustar filly. Additionally, other youngsters on offer are by Victorian stallions Reward for Effort, Helmet, Americain and Starcraft.
Whilst all are attracting plenty of attention for their clients, Woodside Park’s Stud Manager, Gerard Jones has identified a couple of stand out foals that deserve a second inspection.
“We have already been active early this morning with parades, so we are getting a good idea of what people are chasing, said Jones.
“Two weanlings that are catching people’s eye as soon as they come out of their box are Lot 132, the Written Tycoon x Will Rock filly and Lot 348 (pictured), the Zoustar x Lady Lightning filly.”
The filly out of Will Rock, is a full sister to Ciaron Maher’s Diamond Baroness, a five-time winner, earning $200,000 in prize money.
“The buyers are certainly after her. She is a very professional filly, medium sized, solid with great bone structure. A lovely type, chestnut with a big white blaze, just like dad, added Jones.
“The Lady Lightning filly is a forward, attractive foal, with a fine head. She is a quality reflection of her sire, Zoustar.”
Her American dam has produced an eight-time winner, earning $350,000 in prize money, and with plenty of black type on her page, she is from the family of US Champion 2YO Colt, Stevie Wonderboy, and Big Blue Kitten, Champion US Turf Male in 2015.
Lot 182, the Written Tycoon x Belong To Peri is big, forward type, solid and strong. A full sister to Teriki, a six-time winner in Tassie, she is only $5,000 off winning a $100,000 in prize money, a fine effort on the Apple Isle.
Woodside Park Stud looks forward to seeing a good turn out by buyers at Oaklands during the sale.
“Anyone that comes down to view our draft will see everything is in the right place. They won’t be disappointed,” Jones said.
If you would like to inspect the mares Woodside Park Stud is offering for sale, they will be parading from Sunday morning. The four yearlings, going through the ring on Wednesday, will be parading from Tuesday morning.
With weanling inspections well underway at Barn H, let’s hope these sunny days continue throughout the sale.
