Champion Written Tycoon get’s his Melbourne Cup Queen

As race goers celebrate spring racing and the Melbourne Cup Carnival this week, studs and farms around Australia are in the thick of the breeding season.

With newborn foals on the ground hopeful of becoming the next Winx or Black Caviar, the undeniable Queen of the Cups, belongs to the incredible racemare, Makybe Diva.

Now a valuable broodmare, the “Diva” has visited the who’s who in Australian breeding barns, and this season Woodside Park Stud’s Champion stallion, Written Tycoon has been chosen as her suitor.

Sam Fairgray, Woodside Park Stud’s General Manager of Operations, was thrilled to see Makybe Diva walk into the breeding barn.

“It is very exciting that Makybe Diva is in foal to Written Tycoon. He has worked his way up through the stallion ranks, and now he is recognised by these astute breeders as one of the leading commercial stallions in Australia.”

“When I first started at Arrowfield, Makybe Diva was there as a foal, and having had that connection in her early days, it was lovely to see her come to Woodside.”

“I have built a strong relationship with owner, Tony Santic over the years, and I wish him all the best.  There is no doubt that somewhere along the line, her incredible ability will come out, and let’s hope it is with this Written Tycoon foal.”

“From a breeders point of view post racing, it would be a favourable result if she produces a filly, as she would give Tony a brilliant out-cross to keep and breed on with in the future.”

Only last weekend, Makybe Diva added black type to her page, with her talented grand-daughter Touch of Mink (Not A Single Doubt x La Dolce Diva) placing in the Group 2 Fillies Classic on Cox Plate Day for trainer Matt Smith.

And while Written Tycoon, along with Cable Bay and Zoustar are keeping the Woodside breeding barn busy this season with their own well-bred fillies and mares, it is Written Tycoon’s son, Rich Enuff that is generating all the talk amongst the breeders.

“We are thrilled with the first crop of Rich Enuff’s foals.  They are just brilliant. By leaving such a high a quality type of foal on the ground, it gives mare owners every chance to achieve a good commercial commodity in the sale ring.”

“They can now see Rich Enuff has thrown his good looks and his presence, giving them confidence that they will reap the rewards.”

“He is doing a great job here in the barn and being Written Tycoon’s fastest, highest rated son, he was very well supported by breeders with a strong book of around 130 mares.”

“Along with terrific fertility, he is a stallion that will no doubt be considered very favourably by mare owners late in the season.”

Rich Enuff was the most dominant sprinter in Australia during his three-year-old spring campaign winning three consecutive stakes races before he finished a gallant runner-up in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas.

Rich Enuff stands for the 2017 breeding season at a very competitive fee of $13,750 Inc. GST.
