Like Father, Like Son, Like Grandson

With numerous reports that his first foals are outstanding coming through daily from all around the country, Rich Enuff is proving to be Written Tycoon’s most exciting son at stud.

Rich Enuff has had the support of numerous top-class mares at stud, and as a sire, he will brilliantly continue on the legacy that began at Daandine Stud in Queensland, where Jan Clark famously bred both Written Tycoon and Capitalist.

For Jan Clarke, being instrumental to Written Tycoon’s  history and future, she is proudly following and supporting him from her Queensland home and is now enjoying the next generation of foals, courtesy of his son Rich Enuff.

Crowned as the Queen of the Queensland breeding industry, Jan Clark raised and sold Written Tycoon at the 2004 Magic Millions yearling sale for only $50,000. Being by Iglesia, a promising and popular young stallion, she hoped to fetch a decent return and was happy with the result.

“Like his sire, Written Tycoon was a flashy type, and he certainly had the ability to match on the track. But as a sire he exceeded my expectations, he’s just incredible.”

Direct descendants from an incredibly fortunate mating with Iglesia, Jan is thrilled with the quality of Rich Enuff’s foals and sees a lot of Written Tycoon in them.

Speaking with Daandine Stud Manager Mark McCann, Clark keeps mare numbers to around 20 on the farm to focus on quality.

“Our two Rich Enuff fillies are lovely types, and both have been well stamped by their sire. The filly (pictured) out of the stakes-winning mare Divine City is big, strong and leggy. She is the standout of our foals so far.”

“The other foal is from Excepts, who was a very fast mare, breaking her class record at Ipswich.  Jan bred and raced her herself, and as she is out of a General Nediym mare, so she will put good speed into her foal.”

“Like Written Tycoon, if Rich Enuff produces excellent types, which he looks to be doing, he will upgrade his mares. They will be in demand through the ring, and have every chance to succeed on the track.”

"Written Tycoon certainly made the most of his book of quality tough Queensland speed mares, and Rich Enuff looks to have done the same.”

Daandine Stud is the second-oldest family-owned operation at Goomburra, 150km southwest of Brisbane.
