RICH ENUFF SET FOR SUCCESS
Woodside Park Stud’s magnificent stallion is home for good after Rich Enuff enjoyed his first season as a stallion in the sunshine state.
He has followed in the footsteps of his sire, Champion Stallion, Written Tycoon in having the opportunity to cover the best and fastest mares in Queensland.
Being a wonderful boost for the Queensland breeding industry, Rich Enuff stood in conjunction with premier stud farm, Glenlogan Park.
Rich Enuff was a popular boy with the fillies up north, and rightly so being Written Tycoon’s highest rated and best-looking son.
With excellent fertility, he covered 125 mares, supported by breeders with a book of fast city winning fillies and quality broodmares.
When Written Tycoon stood a single year at stud in Queensland the result of his northern matings produced the Golden Slipper winner Capitalist, speedster Winning Rupert and the Group 1 winning filly, Luna Rossa. It is doubtful any stallion in history, has ever had such an incredible influence in a single season.
“It was an unbelievable achievement and hence one of the main reasons Rich Enuff was sent to Queensland to start his stud career, Woodside Park Stud’s Matt Tillett commented.
“We are very excited that Rich Enuff has had the opportunity to cover the same quality mares, and hopefully achieve the same brilliant success.
“Written Tycoon didn’t head north until his sixth season, which made him the elite stallion he is now, whereas Rich Enuff has had this opportunity in his first season, so hopefully his rise to the top of the tables will come earlier than it did for Written Tycoon.
“Victorian breeders can now breed off the back off this crop, so when they are selling their yearlings, the first crop from Queensland will be up and running. With so many two-year-old races, Rich Enuff will have a number of winners already from these fast, tough Queensland mares.”
The warm weather certainly agreed with him, stealing the show when paraded at the recent Woodside Park Stud Open Day. Rich Enuff has now developed into an impressive stallion, and with his outstanding physical presence, he couldn’t help but wow the crowd.
Reminiscing about his racing career, the explosive son of Written Tycoon was the most dominant sprinter in Australia during his three-year-old spring campaign.
Winning three consecutive stakes races, the boom youngster waltzed away with the Listed McKenzie Stakes over 1200 metres at Moonee Valley in a time that was less than a second from Miss Andretti’s track record.
At his very next outing, the imposing colt stamped his class by saluting in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes at Flemington beating Brazen Beau and Wandjina, stopping the clock at 1:08.13 – the fastest a three-year-old colt has run down the Flemington straight six.
Rich Enuff then second-rated his opposition with a devastating three-length victory in the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude over 1400 metres.
The dominant win meant Rich Enuff stepped out as the favourite for the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas, where he finished a gallant runner-up by only a head to Shooting To Win after having to negotiate traffic in the straight.
“He had quality, and loads of it, added Tillett.
"He looked a class above young stallions Brazen Beau and Wandjina in the Danehill, so there is no doubt breeders can use him with confidence knowing that he is a Group 1 class horse.”
In the same profile as his sire, Written Tycoon, and his grandsire Iglesia, Rich Enuff possesses all the raw power and speed that is distinctive of top class stallions.
This ability coupled with his stunning physical attributes, is a surefire formula to produce magnificent looking offspring, and with solid interest from potential breeders, Rich Enuff is in for a busy season ahead.
Devastatingly quick and exceptionally good looking, Rich Enuff will stand at a competitive fee of $13,750 Inc. GST.
